CURRENT PROJECT

Cultivation of 125 hectares of arable land

UNICCHYD is currently poised to cultivate 125 hectares of arable land in Byegya Village, Wukari LGA of Taraba State. This agricultural project was embarked upon because agriculture has shown the prospects for being able to tackle youth unemployment, extreme poverty and malnutrition. The large expanse of land had been donated by a kind hearted citizen and a pilot yam farm is currently being experimented on.
EDUCATION

Scholarship for 35 orphaned children

In the past, UNICCHYD has among other things, sponsored the education of 35 orphaned children and youths who otherwise would have been at risk of becoming delinquents or sex slaves. This took place among the children in Makoko Fishing community in Ebute Meta area of Mainland LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria between 2005 and 2009.

EMPOWERMENT

Training and soft loans for rural women

UNICCHYD has also organized empowerment seminars for rural women and given them seed fund or soft loans to trade with and improve their family income in such a way that they could care for their children rather than abandon them. Loans of about N3,000,000 was disbursed among the Ikwere women of Rumuosi Village, Port Harcourt, Obior Akpor LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria. About 30 women benefitted between 2009 and 2015.

TECHLOLOGY

IT training for elementary school teachers

Computer skills training was organized for teachers in government owned elementary schools and funded the program between 2008 and 2011. This took place at the Public Library of Lagos state located at Yaba LCDA. Around 120 public school teachers benefitted from the project.
INFRASTRUCTURE

Built a water well in the Kingdom of Tombia

UNICCHYD built a water well in the Kingdom of Tombia, Port Hacourt in 2014 to provide clean drinking water for the community and to stop the spread of water borne diseases of which children were the most sufferers and had the highest fatalities. This project was achieved with a grant from …. negotiated and supervised by World in Need, UK.
